What Is LucenceINSIGHT™ and How Does It Work?

Cancer is Singapore's leading cause of death — and approximately 78% of cancer deaths are from cancers that had no standard screening method available. LucenceINSIGHT™ addresses this gap by detecting circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) shed by cancer cells into the bloodstream, identifying cancer signals across up to 50 cancer types long before symptoms develop.

The test uses next-generation DNA sequencing to analyse tumour nucleic acids in a simple blood draw. Where a cancer signal is detected, it can predict the likely tissue of origin in up to two body locations — allowing targeted follow-up investigation.

The test demonstrates approximately 80% sensitivity (ability to detect cancer when present), approximately 99% specificity (accuracy in ruling out cancer when absent), and approximately 88% accuracy in identifying the tissue of origin of a detected cancer signal.
The test can detect signals from up to 50 cancer types, with different tiers available covering 5, 7, 12, or 50 cancers. High-mortality cancers that are difficult to screen by other means — including liver, pancreatic, gastric, and ovarian cancers — are included.
Conventional tumour markers (such as CA-125 or AFP) are protein-based and detect cancer at a later stage with lower specificity. LucenceINSIGHT™ analyses tumour DNA directly — detecting cancer signals earlier and with greater accuracy.
Adults aged 40 and above with no known cancer, individuals with a family history of cancer, heavy smokers or drinkers, those with chronic liver disease or other high-risk conditions, and anyone seeking comprehensive cancer screening beyond standard options.
The test is not recommended during pregnancy, for patients currently undergoing cancer treatment, those in cancer remission within the past 3 years, or those who have had recent major surgery or blood transfusions — as these can affect ctDNA levels.
Results are typically available within 12–18 working days. Dr Dhivian will review findings with you and advise on next steps if a cancer signal is detected.
