Acute Care at Angsana Medical

Care that treats the cause, not just the symptoms

At Angsana Medical, acute care appointments are given the appropriate time they need. Dr Dhivian takes the time to examine you properly and explain what is happening — not hand you a prescription on the way out.

As an MOH-licensed clinic with access to the National Electronic Health Record (NEHR) system, your medical history, medications, and allergies are available at point of consultation. You will always see Dr Dhivian — the same doctor, every visit.

We Hear This Every Week

If any of these sound familiar, you are in the right place.

I need to see a doctor today — but I can't spend 4 hours at A&E.

You are not in a medical emergency, but you know something is wrong. You need a GP who can see you the same day and treat you properly — not a crowded emergency department for a condition that should take 20 minutes to manage.

This has been going on for three days and it's not getting better.

You rested, took paracetamol, drank fluids. It has not shifted. You know your body — and you know this has gone on long enough to warrant a proper clinical assessment.

I hurt myself and I'm not sure if I need an X-ray.

You twisted your ankle, took a knock, or have a cut that might need stitches. A clinical assessment will tell you exactly what you need — and what you do not.

What Getting the Right Help Looks Like

A consultation that actually examines you. A diagnosis that actually explains things.

We take your history, examine you, and explain what we found — in plain language, with a clear plan.

No judgment. No rush. You leave knowing exactly what is happening — and what to do next.

What Is Acute Care and When Should You See a GP in Singapore?

Acute care covers sudden-onset illnesses, infections, minor injuries, and conditions requiring prompt attention that are not life-threatening emergencies. In Singapore, GPs manage the vast majority of these presentations — faster, more personally, and at a fraction of the cost of A&E.

"The emergency department is for emergencies. For everything else — a thorough GP consultation is almost always the right first step."

7 Common Acute Care Conditions We Treat at Angsana Medical, Singapore

We do not start every consultation by writing a prescription. We start by understanding what is causing your symptoms.

We assess whether your infection is viral or bacterial and prescribe appropriately — including antivirals for influenza and COVID-19 where indicated and antibiotics for bacterial infections. We have point-of-care rapid testing (POCT) available in-clinic for COVID-19, Influenza A & B, RSV, and Adenovirus, allowing for accurate diagnosis within minutes.

  • URTI / common cold · Influenza A & B · COVID-19 · RSV · Adenovirus
  • Tonsillitis · Sinusitis · Bronchitis · Acute asthma attack

We manage food poisoning, gastroenteritis, gastric pain, and reflux. For recurrent symptoms, we investigate underlying causes including H. pylori infection.

  • Gastroenteritis · Food poisoning
  • Gastric pain · Acid reflux (GERD) · Constipation

Eye infections, ear infections, and ear wax blockages (ear syringing available) are assessed and treated in-clinic.

  • Conjunctivitis · Otitis media · Otitis externa
  • Ear wax removal · Throat infections

In-clinic urine dipstick testing, appropriate antibiotic prescription, and a preventive plan for recurrent UTIs. Early treatment prevents escalation to kidney infection.

We treat acute skin conditions with topical and oral treatments available on-site.

  • Cellulitis · Infected wounds · Eczema flare-ups
  • Urticaria (hives) · Shingles · Fungal infections

Wound cleaning and closure (sutures or wound glue), joint stability assessment for sprains, and X-ray referrals for suspected fractures. Tetanus vaccination is available in-clinic where indicated.

  • Lacerations · Sprains & strains · Minor burns
  • Suspected minor fractures (X-ray referral) · Tetanus vaccination

Emergency contraception is available discreetly and without judgment at Angsana Medical. We carry both Postinor (levonorgestrel) and ellaOne (ulipristal acetate) — the two most effective forms of emergency contraception available in Singapore. Your doctor will advise on the most appropriate option based on timing and your individual circumstances. All consultations are conducted in strict confidence.

  • Postinor (levonorgestrel) — effective up to 72 hours
  • ellaOne (ulipristal acetate) — effective up to 120 hours
