What Is Insomnia and Why Is It So Common in Singapore?
Insomnia is a clinical condition characterised by difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or waking too early — causing significant daytime impairment. It is estimated to affect up to one in three adults in Singapore, driven by high-stress work cultures, screen exposure, shift work, and untreated anxiety or depression.
Chronic insomnia (lasting more than three months) does not resolve on its own with most self-help strategies. It requires structured treatment — and CBT-i, delivered properly, is the recommended first-line treatment for persistent insomnia.

Step 01
Comprehensive Sleep Assessment
Full medical history, sleep pattern review, investigation of underlying causes (anxiety, hormones, pain, sleep apnoea), and validated insomnia questionnaires.
Step 02
Structured CBT-i Sessions
6 weekly sessions targeting the thoughts and behaviours driving your insomnia. Includes sleep restriction, stimulus control, relaxation, and cognitive restructuring techniques.
Step 03
Sleep Tracking & Tools
You receive the NightTrack Sleep Journal and Sleep Reset Booklet — practical tools to monitor progress and build healthy sleep habits between sessions.
Step 04
Medical Support & Follow-Up
Medication review and adjustment where needed. Ongoing follow-up to consolidate gains, prevent relapse, and safely reduce sleep aids where appropriate.

Sleep disorders are among the most common presentations Dr Dhivian manages — often alongside anxiety, depression, and chronic pain, which frequently co-exist with insomnia. The RESTORE programme was developed to provide a structured, evidence-based alternative to the repeat prescription cycle most insomnia patients are caught in.
He assesses each patient's sleep medically before the programme begins — ruling out sleep apnoea, hormonal contributors, medication side effects, and underlying mental health conditions that may be driving the insomnia.
